San Camillo, Genoa
On 1st May 1667, where the ancient Oratorio della Croce was, with the agreement of the abbot of S.Stefano and with the contribution of Gio Maria De Franchi, Francesco and Camillo Bo, the start was given to S. Croce e San Camillo church. Works were finished in 1671: on 3rd May of that year, feast day of Santa Croce, the church was in fact solemnly opened. In 1682, the ornamentation of the facade was completed.

The Priests of San Camillo (or Crociferi), officiating for the church, were active in serving the sick at Pammatone hospital until 9th December 1777, when the Capuchins took over their role in the assistance to the sick, and left Annunziata church in Portoria, which they had held up until then, to the Operai Evangelici Franzoniani.
The Crociferi endured the Napoleonic suppression of 1810; they were only able to set up again after 1815. In 1839, they were assigned Santa Maria di Granarolo church, which they kept for just seven years.
Due to another government suppression in 1866, the City Council (who still today owns the church) was given ownership of the house and San Camillo church; part of the house was to be demolished in the expansion of via Balilla. A few rooms behind the church were granted to the small number of priests remaining.
